What is this!? This is appalling, that’s what.
this week’s loyola’s sexual assault awareness week.
But we also live in a society that teaches, “lock your doors, because people steal.”
“Don’t talk to strangers, because some of them are bad.”
“Don’t leave your car unlocked, because people will take it.”
We live in a society that teaches us how to protect ourselves from evil.
Because it exists, whether we like it or not.
And you cannot teach someone to be not-evil. It is.
I would argue that a lot more children grow up hearing how it is not right to steal than grow up hearing that it is not right to rape.
Women should take precautions, because they have the power.
But when I go to a bar and a trivia team name is “no means yes and yes means anal” you can’t convince me that there are not pieces of our society that condone rape.
Look guys – all you guys in the audience – no matter what a girl does, no matter how she’s dressed, no matter how much she’s had to drink – it’s never, never, never, never, never okay to touch her without her consent. This doesn’t make you a man – it makes you a coward. A flat-out coward.

So. After hearing an ad on Pandora about freedom of speech on college campuses for the umpteenth time. I clicked on the link. So, on the front page of this site, there are three links. One says “University,” one says “Church,” and one says “Marriage” with a picture of wedding rings. I was like, “well, that seems out of place.” And so I clicked it. And this is what it brought me to.
I will just leave this here and say: what?
Since I’ve taken concern in styling things in away that reveals my heart and soul and not just my intellect. Since I’ve played with my words, rolled them over like stones in my hand or candies on my tongue. How do they look, how do they taste, how do they feel. Accuracy is critical, I can lose track of time clicking through the online thesaurus until I find just the right word. Whatever it is I get to do someday, I hope this is part of it.
